Job Description
The Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT) program is a crisis stabilizing resource specially designed to support youth and families in crisis to prevent escalation to more acute settings when resolution in home, school or community setting is more appropriate. YCOT is a specialized resource embedded within the crisis service continuum, working alongside MCOT to collectively provide support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. YCOT will provide developmentally appropriate, in person response with specially trained staff. YCOT will used Trauma informed interventions and strategies to de-escalate a youth crisis, aid in relapse prevention and safety planning, and will offer support to the youth and their family, or other primary caregiver, for a minimum of 30 days and up to 90 days after crisis. Peer Specialist are individuals with lived experience who have sustained recovery from a mental and/or substance use disorder. They assist individuals seeking recovery navigate a crisis, reduce symptoms, as well as provide support and advocacy. Activities include mentoring, advocating, leading individual and/or recovery groups and building relationships. Peer Specialist model recovery, promotes shared understanding, focus on strengths, offer positive coping strategies, and provide information and resources. Peer services are supplemental to other crisis services an individual may receive. Additionally, Peer Specialist will assist clients in articulating personal goals for recovery and supports clients in identifying and creating goals and developing recovery plans with the skills, strengths, supports and resources to aid them in achieving those goals. Models effective coping techniques and self-help strategies. Assist in obtaining services that suit that individual's recovery needs. Assist clients in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacy. Works under moderate supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
