Experience:

Requirements:
17 years of age or older by the start of service (no upper age limit). U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident. Able to pass a National Service Criminal History Check. Able to make this service term your primary commitment, full-time, September 2026-August 2027. Not currently holding other full-time employment; other commitments should be part-time or temporary and not interfere with the service schedule. Not enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or professional degree program during the term of service. Able to maintain full healthcare coverage for the duration of the service term
Duties:
Provide one-on-one digital navigation support, helping residents with internet access, devices, and digital literacy. Help residents access online services for healthcare, employment, education, and benefits. Interface with local community citizens and organizations to help identify needs and support tailored solutions to help bridge the digital divide in Far West Texas. Help develop and deliver technology trainings tailored to varying skill levels and age groups. Support the Upper Rio Grande Regional Broadband Working Group by gathering community input and connecting its work to tangible local impact. Help create outreach materials (flyers, social media, newsletter items) to build community awareness of digital resources. Track participation and help compile data and community stories for program reporting. Support relationship-building with the Jeff Davis County Library, Fort Davis ISD, Valentine ISD, Jeff Davis County, and local organizations to aid in using technology for public service About the Opportunity The American Connection Corps (ACC) is an AmeriCorps service fellowship program of Lead For America,focused on helping communities build the digital connectivity necessary to expand opportunity and economic mobility. JDC Community Foundation is seeking a Community Technology Coordinator to serve as a trustedlocal guide, helping residents throughout Jeff Davis County build digital literacy and connect to the healthcare, employment, education, and community resources technology makes possible. Position Details
Term:
September 21, 2026 - August 2027 (approx. 1,700 hours)
Schedule:
Full-time, 35-40 hours/week; occasional evenings/weekends for community events
Service Area:
Jeff Davis County, TX, with possible occasional travel to neighboring Far West Texas communities. (Jeff Davis County is home to Fort Davis National Historic Site, McDonald Observatory, Davis Mountains State Park,and the Texas Nature Conservancys Davis Mountains Preserve. At over 5000 the town of Fort Davis is the official Highest Town inTexas and has a population of about 1200 residents. Marfa, Texas is 21 miles away, the City of Alpine and Sul Ross State University areabout 25 miles, and Big Bend National Park is about 100 miles south.)
