Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Behavioral Health Services, the Peer Support Specialist performs assigned peer support activities in
HOTRMHMR
offices and community at large. Specifically, this worker provides recovery-oriented peer services to adult mental health consumers in the Infinity Program. These services involve utilization of the Peer Support's own experiences in recovery to engage and inspire hope in working with consumers.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Provide support to consumers in a variety of community settings. Engage with potential Infinity Program consumers in
HOTRMHMR
office or Peer Support Center, community settings, hospital, crisis care, and jail settings. Coordinate transportation and support for various scheduled appointments. Maintain timely documentation. . Knowledge, Skills, and Essential Functions Excellent written communication and computer keyboarding for inputting clinical documentation Excellent verbal communication with clients, staff, and community providers Time management required to meet service goals Local travel using Center vehicle Stooping, bending, sitting, standing, keyboarding for prolonged periods, and lifting up to 30 lbs. Ability to be CPR and PMAB certified Valid driver's license and liability insurance required. 25% local travel. Must be 18 years of age. Education and Experience High school diploma or GED required At least 1 year of personally receiving treatment in a behavioral health system for a disorder that is treated in the target population for Texas is required (Must be willing to appropriately share own recovery story with recipients). Certified as a Peer Provider Preferred (Peer Provider Certification required once employed) Must be able to demonstrate current self-directed recovery. Must be able to pass criminal history and registry checks.
Hours:
20 hours per week (part-time) Monday - Friday 10:00am-2:00pm
Salary:
$10.00 hourly/$10,400 annually Plus $1200
