WHAT YOU WILL DO
Acts as a specialist in veteran services and available federal, state and local benefit programs. Assesses eligibility and links clients to veteran-specific resources, rental assistance, and other community services such as Basic Food, health care, employment and education. Also provides direct case management services to veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, focusing on helping them achieve housing stability. Assists with outreach and education efforts both internally and externally and serves as a link to partner agencies.
WORK SCHEDULE
Monday through Friday 8am-5pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains current knowledge and understanding of major systems that veteran households encounter and resources they utilize. Provides direct case management services to families and/or individuals eligible for veteran housing programs including, but are not limited to, home visits, intakes, assessment, resource and referrals, goal setting, and program development. Assists veteran clients with navigating housing services and systems and enrollment in eligible benefits and resources. Conducts veteran outreach efforts. Maintains confidential case notes on each client in a timely manner. Builds and maintains community relationships with partner agencies. Ensures that all federal, state, agency and/or funder guidelines are met. Provides reporting and tracking information for data management systems.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
One-year relevant experience. Knowledge of veteran programs and resources preferred. Veteran with honorable discharge and 180 days active duty preferred Valid Washington State driver's license and five-year driving history within Opportunity Council's Auto Insurance Standards. We place a strong value in hiring individuals with lived experiences of, poverty and/or homelessness or who have previously participated in Opportunity Council programs or other social services.
