Job Description

The Volunteer Coordinator supports Maple Valley Food Bank by recruiting, scheduling, engaging, and appreciating volunteers across programs, events, and daily operations, especially during market hours. This role requires a caring, organized, and detail-oriented professional who communicates effectively, handles confidential information with discretion, and thrives in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.
Basic Qualifications:
High school or equivalent diploma One or more years of project management, nonprofit, or equivalent experience Experience with Microsoft Office Ability to learn new technologies and programs with ease Ability to complete complex tasks quickly with little supervision and react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with donors, clients, volunteers, employees, and community members

Requirements:
Reliable personal transportation and proof of a valid Washington State driver's license Must be at least 25 years old to drive a company vehicle and meet insurability requirements Ability to pass a criminal history background check Ability to sit or stand for up to four hours at a time Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Current Food Worker Card or ability to obtain one
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Development Manager, work with appropriate staff to recruit volunteers for all food bank activities. Coordinate schedules and volunteers for all Development Program activities such as the Charity Golf Tournament, Turkey Trot, and Hunger Action Month. Be a central point of contact for all volunteers. Serve as the lead for the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. Coordinate volunteers for annual fundraising events Develop and coordinate volunteer recruitment campaigns and work alongside other team members to schedule volunteers/community service workers as needed Deliver a volunteer onboarding program in coordination with all Program Managers. Maintain break room supplies, snacks, office supplies, etc. Manage break room to create a positive experience for volunteers, including making coffee in the morning, setting out snacks, decorating for holidays, updating the volunteer board, and more Complete detailed data entry, update and maintain files, and maintain accurate records and planning systems (volunteer data, annual planning calendar, donations, drive/event totals) Assist in content creation for social media, maplevalleyfoodbank.org, and additional publications as needed Maintain and promote positive public relations with the community, clients, and volunteers Perform office duties such as answering phones, keeping calendars, coordinating appointments, picking up, sorting and distributing mail, and other clerical duties Perform all other duties as reasonably assigned
