Join CVR as a Housing Specialist Are you passionate about helping others and ready to be part of something meaningful? CVR is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Temporary Housing Specialist to join our mission-driven team. As a Housing Specialist/Housing Case Manager, you will play a pivotal role in helping low-income individuals—including the elderly, disabled, and homeless—secure safe, affordable housing. You'll serve as a direct point of contact for clients, guiding them through eligibility assessments, supporting them through crises when needed, and advocating for their success. With a strong knowledge of Fair Housing regulations, Section 8, and LIHTC programs, you'll ensure compliance and provide the highest level of service to our community.
What You'll Do:
Support participants throughout the housing process with compassion and professionalism Apply motivational interviewing techniques to engage and empower clients Provide crisis intervention and collaborate with service providers as needed Ensure adherence to Fair Housing laws, Section 8 guidelines, and related regulations Maintain accurate case records and documentation Work closely with landlords, property managers, and community partners Advocate for client needs and negotiate on their behalf to remove housing barriers
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field preferred (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree) Experience working with vulnerable or low-income populations Familiarity with Yardi or similar housing software systems (a plus!) Strong understanding of housing laws, tenant rights, and public assistance programs Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills Ability to remain calm and supportive in high-stress or crisis situations A team player mindset with a passion for helping others thrive Why Join CVR? Onsite in Milwaukee, WI Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Strong understanding of Fair Housing regulations, Section 8, and LIHTC programs. Experience in crisis management and intervention techniques. Proficiency in motivational interviewing methods to effectively engage clients. Familiarity with Yardi or similar property management systems is a plus. Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to advocate for client needs effectively. Knowledge of legal aspects related to housing assistance and tenant rights is desirable. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
