A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.
This shift will be full time; Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday schedule Case Managers/Group Facilitators are responsible for providing group therapy as well as process groups to active clients within the facility. Provides clients with the development of, coping skills, healthy communication skills, establishing and maintaining healthy relationships, relapse prevention techniques, insight into triggers, setting healthy boundaries, and challenging negative self-talk skills. Works with the treatment team to plan and coordinate the client's needs for the group process.
Essential Functions:
Uphold and enforce EagleCrest standards, policies and procedures, client rights, and a professional code of ethics and conduct. Possess appropriate credentials and education Identify and prioritize individual needs and problems of the client. Provide group therapy sessions utilizing Evidence Based Practices. Document client progress toward group goals. Prepare clinical documentation accurately and within agency time frames. Participate in the agency's Orientation training, staff meetings, and in-service training. Adhere to code of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice, professional standards, duty to warn, abuse and neglect reporting policies and procedures, and exercise professionalism at all times. Exercise awareness in cultural competency, client satisfaction, quality of services, client needs, and overall health and safety staff and clients.
Competencies:
Ability to perform duties as a counselor/group facilitator. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with facility staff, supervisors. Ability to positively interact and develop rapport with clients.
Education:
Registered as a CIT (may obtain after hire) Drug and Alcohol Counseling Certification Desired.
Experience:
1-2 years of experience in the field of addiction and mental health or equivalent human services work experience preferred.
Certificates & Licenses:
Valid Driver's License CPR/First AID (may obtain after hire) Proof of CIT status (may obtain after hire)
