Position:
Responsible for providing group and individual sessions and related rehabilitative treatment services to substance abuse clients in a residential setting.
What You Will Do:
Under supervision, participates in the provision of individual or group sessions with residents. Learns to serve as a client advocate. Participates in staffing. Interacts with clients' families and referral agencies. Learns to evaluate emergencies and take appropriate action. Learns to compile and evaluate comprehensive social, legal, and personal histories of clients. Learns to maintain accurate and timely client records of a confidential nature. Participates significantly with clients in the determination of short and long-term client goals and treatment plans. Attends selected in-service workshops and seminars. Prepares reports as assigned. May appear in court with the client. Participates in the maintenance and care of the physical environment along with clients. Participates in community building activities, as appropriate to the position. Other duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring:
High school diploma or equivalent GED Minimal knowledge of contemporary substance abuse treatment practices in a residential setting. Good understanding of human emotions. Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse and behavioral health problems. Ability to relate to clients effectively. Some knowledge of counseling and therapy practices. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively. Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectively under pressure generated through association with substance abuse clients. Demonstrates proper attitude and techniques to residential clients.
