A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Job Description

About us Recover Colorado is an addiction treatment and co-occurring substance use disorder program with a mission to provide the highest level of patient-centered, holistic addiction treatment. Recover is looking for a dynamic team player to join their company in their mission to provide compassionate addiction treatment. Recover provides Residential, Partial Hospitalization, and Intensive Outpatient programming, licensed by the state of Colorado, and the offices are located in Westminster, Colorado. Recover specializes in individual and group therapy, and client centered treatment planning. They treat both males and females eighteen years of age and older. Recover's vision is to create a new approach to the treatment experience and to raise the standard of individualized behavioral healthcare. Therapist Job Description
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions daily with clients to address substance use and mental health concerns and promote emotional well-being
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on client's needs and goals
  • Work closely with admissions, and provide case management and aftercare planning
  • Provide group and individual counseling
  • Assist with crisis intervention
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as psychiatrists, social workers, and utilization review to coordinate comprehensive care, and after-care for clients
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client charting and records daily, in accordance with Medicaid requirements and legal and ethical guidelines
  • Carry a caseload and assist with regular communication between clinical, family, aftercare planning.
  • Participate in any required clinical supervision and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills
Requirements:
  • Interns may apply
  • Certified Addiction Specialist CAS, or Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC)
  • Experience working in a clinical setting providing therapy to individuals with substance abuse and mental health disorders
  • A Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and interventions
  • Organized, energetic, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish a trusting rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of insurance requirements for documentation is a plus (Recover can train)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards of practice
