What they do
A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

Job Description
TEAP SME
will provide national subject matter expertise supporting Job Corps' Trainee Employee Assistance Program (TEAP). The SME will assist with substance abuse prevention, drug and alcohol counselling guidance, program oversight, technical assistance, quality assessments, and policy implementation supporting adolescent and young adult populations. Primary Responsibilities Provide substance abuse consultation. Review substance abuse cases. Support prevention initiatives. Conduct quality assessments. Review compliance with TEAP policies. Participate in center assessments. Provide technical assistance. Deliver training and webinars. Review corrective action plans. Prepare technical reports. Minimum Qualifications Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D./Psy.D.) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (MSW) . Minimum 5 years providing drug and alcohol counselling to adolescents and young adults. Experience with substance abuse prevention. Experience with program evaluation. Experience with quality and compliance assessments. Experience with adolescent alcohol and drug issues. Crisis intervention experience. Strong writing and computer skills.
