The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive clinical counseling services, including individual, group, and family therapy, to support clients in overcoming substance use disorders. This role involves conducting diagnostic evaluations, developing personalized treatment plans, and utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy and behavioral health interventions. The counselor will also ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain accurate medical documentation. Experience in crisis intervention, case management, and working within hospital or community care settings is highly valued. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on clients' recovery journeys through expert patient assessment and addiction counseling. Responsibilities Conduct intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine client needs and develop individualized treatment plans. Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions utilizing modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. Implement crisis management strategies to support clients facing mental health or substance use emergencies. Deliver evidence-based interventions including PTSD care, addiction medicine, and behavior management techniques. Maintain detailed medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards using appropriate CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and medical terminology. Collaborate with healthcare providers in hospital or community settings to coordinate patient care and case management efforts. Educate clients on addiction recovery processes, relapse prevention strategies, and coping skills through research-based practices. Support clients' social work needs by addressing child & family counseling requirements and home & community care services as needed. Collect data for ongoing program evaluation and contribute to research initiatives related to behavioral health outcomes. Ideal candidates are proactive self-starters who identify needs and take initiative to complete tasks independently. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid licensure or certification in addiction counseling or clinical counseling (e.g., CADC, LCSW). Proven experience in psychotherapy, mental health counseling, or behavioral health settings; hospital experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, PTSD care protocols, and behavior management strategies. Familiarity with medical documentation standards including HIPAA compliance, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical terminology. Excellent patient assessment skills combined with the ability to perform diagnostic evaluations effectively. Experience working with diverse populations in home & community care environments is desirable. Ability to manage crisis situations calmly and effectively while demonstrating empathy and professionalism. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping and data collection. This position is integral to providing high-quality behavioral health services that promote recovery and well-being for individuals facing addiction challenges.
