What they do
A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

- Experience as a professional counselor is required (alcohol and drug preferred)
- Provide case management and substance abuse counseling to a maximum of 15 patientcase load (Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient)
- Conduct groups for IOP and continued care
- Use EMR to document the following: assessments, treatment plans, progress notes for group and individual sessions
- Work directly under Clinical supervisor and Director of Operations
- Must be organized, detailed oriented, self-motivator
- Coordinate patient care, follow up scheduling with admin and billing staff
- Interact with referral sources and aftercare programs
- Part time ONLY (Monday
- Friday)
- Minimum licensure of CSC-AD or CAC-AD
