Job Description

Substance Abuse Counselor RES Home Care is seeking a compassionate, experienced Substance Abuse Counselor to provide specialized community-based services through the NYS Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Waiver Program . This rewarding position focuses on helping individuals whose substance use challenges are directly related to the effects of traumatic brain injury, empowering them to live safely and successfully in their communities. The Substance Abuse Counselor provides individualized assessment, treatment planning, counseling, education, relapse prevention, and recovery support to TBI Waiver participants. Working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team, the counselor develops person-centered strategies that address the unique cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and environmental challenges experienced following a traumatic brain injury. Will be working as part of the Waiver/Community Services team, as well as supervising staff members and quality assurance tasks.
Education & Experience:
Candidate must possess Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) in good standing AND
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology
  • Bachelor's degree in social work
  • Special Education Degree or Rehabilitation Counseling AND Two years of experience working with individuals who have traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, neurological disorders, or cognitive impairments; or providing services to individuals with a history of substance abuse.
Salary Range:
$ 60,000 Travel Required Driver's License (Required)
Schedule:
