A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.
Manage client caseload. Intake screening and referral, individual and group counseling, assist with maintaining therapeutic milieu, maintenance of timely and accurate clinical documentation, case management and escorting clients for advocacy when needed. Some outreach work as needed and related duties as assigned.
HOURS:
Full time, 35 hours per week Monday - Friday; 9:00am-5:00pm
QUALIFICATIONS
MSW or CASAC-T License required. LMHC or LMSW preferred. Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, knowledge of alcoholism treatment and familiarity with 12-step programs. Basic Computer Literacy required. Vaccination preferred but not required.
