Full Job Description SUMMARY:
As a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA), you will play a vital role in assisting licensed counselors and therapists in providing comprehensive support and treatment to individuals struggling with substance abuse and chemical dependency issues. You will work closely with clients, families, and the treatment team to facilitate a safe and supportive environment conducive to recovery and rehabilitation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Support:
Engage with clients on an individual and group basis, providing emotional support, active listening, and encouragement throughout their recovery journey. Assist clients in identifying personal triggers, coping mechanisms, and relapse prevention strategies. Foster a non-judgmental and empathetic atmosphere to promote open communication and trust.
Treatment Planning:
Collaborate with licensed counselors to develop and implement individualized treatment plans for clients, incorporating their goals, needs, and progress. Monitor and document clients' progress, behaviors, and responses to treatment interventions.
Group Facilitation:
Help organize and facilitate group therapy sessions, educational workshops, and support groups. Contribute to the creation of group materials, presentations, and discussions related to addiction recovery, relapse prevention, and life skills development.
Administrative Duties:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, progress notes, and treatment plans in compliance with regulatory standards and confidentiality guidelines. Coordinate with administrative staff to manage appointment scheduling, paperwork, and insurance-related documentation.
Education and Outreach:
Participate in community outreach programs, workshops, and seminars to raise awareness about substance abuse, addiction, and available treatment resources. Contribute to educational materials and resources designed to inform clients and their families about addiction, recovery, and coping strategies.
Crisis Intervention:
Assist in managing crises and emergencies that may arise during treatment, providing immediate support and notifying appropriate personnel when necessary.
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with licensed counselors, therapists, medical professionals, and other team members to ensure comprehensive care and a holistic approach to recovery.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field preferred. Completion of a recognized chemical dependency counselor assistant training program or relevant certification is a plus. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect and communicate effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds. Compassionate, non-judgmental, and supportive demeanor with a genuine commitment to helping others. Knowledge of substance abuse treatment methods, recovery principles, and relapse prevention strategies. Excellent organizational and administrative skills for maintaining accurate records and managing documentation. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in handling sensitive client information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
