A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

(Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center) - 3.5 Cleveland, OH Job Details Part-time From $19 an hour 18 hours ago Qualifications Computer operation Computer literacy Counseling Substance abuse Mental health assessments Computer skills Social Work Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders Behavioral health Full Job Description Chemical Dependency Counselor provides individual and group counseling services to the patients receiving care on the Stella Maris sub-acute detoxification unit and their families. The Counselor completes a comprehensive psychosocial assessment, formulates a treatment plan, and makes referrals for ongoing care as appropriate. The Counselor maintains appropriate documentation of all services and links clients to further chemical dependency services upon discharge.
Qualifications:
Minimum credential of a CDCA in the State of Ohio, higher degrees encouraged to apply (LCDCII, LCDCIII, LSW, LISW) Two years of experience in a role of similar capacity Bachelor's Degree in counseling, social work, or related field a plus Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer competency Knowledge of addiction and withdrawal process Knowledge of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment process
Duties & Responsibilities:
Establishes therapeutic alliance with clients Responds urgently to client issues Works cooperatively with other staff/disciplines as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team. Conducts educational groups regarding substance abuse/dependence Conducts individual and group counseling Develops and implement individualized treatment plans Maintains accurate and timely documentation of all services
