A Substance Abuse Counselor counsels people struggling with addictions to alcohol, drugs or other substances. Assists clients in dealing with personal and professional problems related to substance abuse. Collaborates with other health care and mental health care professionals to coordinate services for clients, and works with families of substance abusers. May work in a clinic, health care facility or community based program, or work with clients referred through the criminal justice system.

About this Position Provide individual and group counseling, evaluation and assessment for university students with alcohol and substance abuse issues. Will also provide general counseling of students as needed. The staff member will perform administrative duties, provide emergency/crisis intervention, provide consultation to members of the university community, provide educational outreach programs, and periodically have the opportunity to supervise practicum and intern graduate students.Note:
This position is an annual 10 month full-time appointment: August 1 thru May 31. Required Qualifications Master's Psychology, counseling or related field (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date) Two years related experience in alcohol and substance abuse counseling in outpatient clinical counseling either through an education degree program or professional work. Certifications, Registrations, and/orLicenses:
Eligibility for Oklahoma Alcohol and Drug Counselor licensure, with the ability to obtain licensure within two years of employment. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D./Ed.D.
