D.O.Q. LOCATION
Brownsville, Texas DUTIES:
The counselor will interview offenders, conduct assessments and/or evaluations and use observational data to formulate treatment plans including behavioral objects, action plans, and treatment interventions. The counselor will staff findings of the evaluation with the assigned supervising officer. In addition to these duties, the counselor will conduct individual and/or group counseling sessions for offender's court ordered to participate in the residential treatment facility. Counselors may be assigned any other duties as designated by the Director and/or Deputy Director of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or its equivalent. Counselor must hold the LCDC credential. Must have experience in a substance abuse treatment setting in addition to experience with offender and/or mental health populations; Knowledge of general office procedures, codes, policies, and practices; Must be able to communicate well verbally and in writing in both English and Spanish languages; Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
