  • Part-time Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This position requires a strong understanding of behavioral health, crisis intervention techniques, and the ability to develop effective treatment plans tailored to each client's needs. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work collaboratively with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to promote recovery and improve overall well-being. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients to determine their needs and develop individualized treatment plans. Provide one-on-one counseling sessions utilizing techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. Facilitate group therapy sessions focused on recovery strategies, coping skills, and relapse prevention. Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on ongoing evaluations. Engage in crisis intervention when necessary to ensure client safety and well-being. Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions, treatment progress, and outcomes in accordance with medical terminology standards. Collaborate with other healthcare providers to coordinate care and support for clients in home community care settings. Conduct research data collection as needed to contribute to program development and improvement. Experience A degree in psychology, social work, or a related field is preferred. State of Virginia Certified Substance Abuse Counselor Previous experience in behavioral health or substance abuse counseling is highly desirable. Knowledge of PTSD care and child family counseling techniques is a plus. Familiarity with crisis intervention strategies and patient care practices is essential. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required for effective documentation and collaboration.
