Job Description
Vocational Rehabilitation is seeking a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor in the Watford City, North Dakota area. Make a significant impact on lives and contribute to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor (VRC) with the ND Health and Human Services' Vocational Rehabilitation division. Be a catalyst for positive change as you guide individuals striving to achieve their career goals. Your days will be spent interacting with culturally diverse job seekers of all ages, disabilities, and capabilities who are working toward achieving their career goals. You will conduct outreach and develop partnerships with schools, behavioral health facilities, treatment centers, and correctional facilities. You will conduct career and worksite assessments, along with providing skills coaching and job readiness training one-on-one or in groups to job seekers. In addition, you will develop relationships with employers and community partners. You will facilitate job search, placement, referrals and coordinate services with community resources programs, employers and community. Furthermore, you will advocate and request accommodations, train on assistive technology, and participate and/or speak at community awareness and education. To succeed in this position, you must have excellent written and spoken communication, empathy, and active listening skills. You enjoy creating and fostering connections. Understanding diverse backgrounds and having the ability to inspire and motivate others are key. Moreover, you adapt easily, have patience and maintain a positive attitude. You use critical thinking to identify and solve problems. In addition, you have the capacity to work both independently and in a team setting. Location HHS and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation uses a hybrid workplace model. Minimum Qualifications A bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Rehabilitation Administration/Services, Psychometrics, Behavioral Health, Behavioral Science, Disability Studies, Human Relations, Human Services, Marriage and Family Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Education, Vocational Assessment/Evaluation or Human Development and Family Science, or related degree.
And one of the following:
or Two (2) years of direct service experience working with persons with disabilities or One (1) year of experience as a vocational rehabilitation counselor or Master's degree in one of the above disciplines.
