Position Overview:
SCOPE OF ROLE
: The Vocational Counselor provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Familiar with Federal, State and Local laws and regulations as they apply to the community residence program and agency policies Provides vocational services and consultation as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. visits clients in their home and other settings required. Familiar with OMH regulations Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services Provides aid and assistance through all phases of the vocational service provision Performing routine clinical services as a member of the Team Responsible for charting client services Responsible Vocational portion or all creating the service plan Responsible for integrating vocational goals and services with the tasks of all the team members Responsible for ensuring revisions to the plan as the participants' needs change Advocating on the rights and preferences of the participant whenever possible Responsible for creating a monthly spreadsheet with names of tenants and their employment status Follow-up quarterly with all employed tenants Assist with making monthly contact with tenants as needed Participate in bi-weekly monthly meeting Participate in monthly supervision to address any work-related tasks or concerns Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
REQUIREMENTS
REQUIRED
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE HS
diploma or GED required Three years' experience with homeless population Ability to work with a culturally diverse population
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Bachelor's Degree is Human Services field preferred, Familiarity of NYC public school system preferred Experience in residential setting, group work, tenant organization, case management, referral, and/or community outreach strongly preferred
