The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children, providing a safe and nurturing environment, and facilitating engaging activities. This role is crucial in supporting children's social, emotional, and academic development after school hours.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervision:
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the program during afterschool hours.
  • Activity Planning:
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate recreational and educational activities, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and homework assistance.
  • Engagement:
  • Foster positive relationships with children, encouraging participation and interaction among peers.
  • Support:
  • Provide guidance and support to children with homework and school projects, ensuring they understand the material.
  • Communication:
  • Maintain open lines of communication with parents, staff, and children regarding any concerns, updates, or events.
  • Behavior Management:
  • Utilize positive behavior management techniques to promote a respectful and inclusive environment.
  • Health and Safety:
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure that all children are accounted for at all times.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work collaboratively with other counselors and staff to ensure a cohesive program.
  • Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with children in a group setting (camps, schools, or afterschool programs) is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement activities that are fun and engaging.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is preferred (or willingness to obtain).
