Child Counselor 3.0 3.0 out of 5 stars 210 Avenue C, Danville, IL 61832 $18.25 an hour - Full-time Crosspoint Human Services 33 reviews $18.25 an hour - Full-time Crosspoint is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Counselor to join our team and make a meaningful impact on the lives of children who have witnessed domestic violence or a survivor of domestic violence or impacted by homelessness. In this role, you will provide counseling services using a Trauma Informed approach that supports emotional, behavioral, and developmental well-being, helping children navigate challenges in a safe and nurturing environment. The ideal candidate is empathetic, patient, and committed to fostering positive growth. The child counselor will organize activities for children and parents to provide domestic violence education for the children and adults.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Duties include but are not limited to: Provide parenting support of non-violent parenting techniques Provide children with an orientation to the shelters. Identify immediate needs and work with parents and children to meet those needs through support, counseling, and advocacy. Develop Service Plans jointly with each child and/or child, monitor progress and adjust Service Plans as necessary. Act as liaison between the agency and school districts within the county. Coordinate and provide opportunities for the child/teen to participate in activities that are social, recreational and educational. Advocate with community agencies and schools regarding the effects of domestic violence and homelessness on children. Provide educational presentations to business/industry/schools/community on the effects of domestic violence and homelessness on children as directed by Leadership Crosspoint Human Services offers comprehensive on the job 40 hour domestic violence training. Job Requirements You must meet the following requirements for consideration: Requires Bachelor's degree in social services or related field, or equivalent in life and/or professional experience. Two years' experience with children and domestic violence preferred.
