Job Description

Position Summary:
Before & Afterschool Staff serve under the direct supervision of the Before & Afterschool Lead Staff, providing hands-on care, supervision, and program support for the YMCA Before & Afterschool Program. This is a part-time position with morning shifts beginning at 6:00 or 6:30 a.m. (depending upon school location) through the start of the school day, and afternoon/evening shifts from approximately 2:45-6:00 p.m. Before & Afterschool Staff are responsible for supporting the implementation of Association policies and procedures by actively supervising youth and assisting in the delivery of the Before & Afterschool curriculum as directed by the Before & Afterschool Lead Staff. Programs are operated\ at the following school communities: ACS Community Schools (Anderson)

$9.00-$12.00 per hour Free YMCA National Membership 50% discount on all YMCA of Madison County programs CPR, First Aid, and other position-related certifications are required and supported by the
YMCA Essential Functions:
1. Actively supervise youth at all times, maintaining a safe, attentive, and caring environment at the assigned school site. 2. Assist in the delivery of Before & Afterschool curriculum activities that support youth development outcomes, physical activity, enrichment, and social-emotional learning, as directed by Lead Staff. 3. Follow curriculum plans and program schedules as established by the Before & Afterschool Lead Staff; implement activities in a consistent, engaging, and age-appropriate manner. 4. Provide warm, responsive interactions with youth that reflect the YMCA's commitment to positive youth development and social-emotional learning. 5. Support a positive group environment by promoting respectful relationships among youth and modeling appropriate behavior at all times. 6. Communicate promptly and professionally with parents and school faculty as situations arise; direct concerns or questions to Lead Staff as appropriate. 7. Develop and maintain positive relationships with school faculty and staff at the assigned site. 8. Serve as a positive role model for youth, reflecting YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. 9. Support Lead Staff in maintaining accurate attendance records, sign-in/sign-out logs, and billing information as assigned. 10. Participate in family events and parent engagement activities as directed by the supervisor. 11. Report any safety concerns, incidents, or behavioral issues to Lead Staff immediately and in accordance with YMCA policies. 12. Demonstrate a working knowledge of YMCA mission, purpose, and goals, childcare policies, and YMCA standards; contribute to a program that meets the highest standards of excellence.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Must be at least 16 years of age. Applicants ages 16-17 must have a valid work permit and may have restricted duties per applicable law. 2. High school diploma or GED preferred; current enrollment in high school accepted for applicants 16-17 years of age. 3. CPR and First Aid certification required within the first 30 days of employment. 4. Demonstrated interest in working with children and youth in a structured program setting. 5. Ability to follow directions, work as part of a team, and take initiative under the supervision of Lead Staff. 6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with youth, families, and school partners. 7. Ability to pass a national criminal background check and Child Protection Services
