Baltimore, MD Job Details Part-time $30 an hour 20 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification Crisis management BLS Certification First aid High school diploma or GED First Aid Certification Conflict management Associate's degree Full Job Description Position Description Our Fortress Homes Inc. is currently hiring a full-time and a part-time female residential counselors with experience in working with emotionally disturbed teenage girls in a therapeutic group home in Baltimore City, ensuring that all patients take proper medication, and reporting activity and behavior to the residential director. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a
Residential Counselor:
Supervise, provide direct care and monitor all residents. Enforces rules and regulations dictated by group home. Distributes proper medications and supplements to residents. Assists in preparing scheduled and planned meals and snacks for residents. Observes dietary restrictions and guidelines of specific residents. Ensures that all residents attend group and individual therapy appointments. Drives residents to school or extracurricular activities as necessary. Assists in resolving disputes amongst residents. Observes any alterations in resident behavior and reports them to director accordingly. Identifies signs of a resident's potential harm to self or others and addresses these accordingly. Performs general household duties, such as cleaning and laundry and working with residents to assist them in developing independent living skills in these areas based on the resident's age. Ensures all residents are in bed by lights out. Writes up reports of resident behavior and activity. Submits reports to residential director.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates patience and empathy. Exhibits strong organizational skills. Maintains friendly and outgoing demeanor. Possesses excellent interpersonal and conversational skills. Is willing and able to stay at group home overnight as necessary. Demonstrates knowledge of the rules and guidelines of the group home. Possesses excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. Works well with a variety of individuals. Communicates clearly and effectively. Remains calm during stressful situations. Works calmly and efficiently in a crisis. Exhibits excellent listening skills.
Education/Experience:
21 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a human service field. Minimum of one (1) year experience in working with children in a residential setting, or a minimum of six (6) months experience in working with emotionally disturbed children in a residential setting.
Requirements:
Current CPR and First Aid Training or upon start date, RCYCP, MD driver's license in good standing or in the process of obtaining your driver's license; criminal background and protective (CPS) services background check; negative tuberculosis (TB test) results and current physical.
