Role:
Wise Minds Therapeutic Services is seeking compassionate 1:1 Support Staff to work with youth in out-of-home care across Allegany and Garrett Counties . Based in or near Cumberland , this role involves traveling to homes, schools, or community-based settings to provide structured emotional support, behavioral redirection, and safety supervision. This is a contracted role under the Maryland Department of Human Services (DHS) , ideal for those living in rural areas with a passion for helping youth succeed in challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Supervise and support youth on a 1:1 basis ✔️ Use trauma-informed strategies to redirect behavior and de-escalate conflict ✔️ Support youth through coaching, modeling, and skill-building ✔️ Document services accurately and promptly ✔️ Maintain youth safety and comply with mandated reporting laws
Requirements:
21+ years old with a valid driver's license and reliable transportation High School Diploma/GED + 2 years experience OR Associate's degree + 1 year in human services Must pass background check and fingerprinting Willingness to travel across remote or rural communities Flexible schedule availability Required Training (Upon Hire): Preferred but required after onboarding: CPR and First Aid Crisis Prevention & De-escalation (e.g., CPI) Trauma-Informed Care Mandated Reporter Training HIPAA / Confidentiality Awareness DHS Orientation & Policy Review Training will be provided or reimbursed if not already completed.
Ongoing Training Requirement:
All staff must complete two (2) in-service trainings per year , such as:
