GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
: Youth Advocates must have the ability to relate to socially or emotionally at-risk youth; the ability to handle authority in a fair, firm nurturing manner; and willingness to accept supervision and administer supervision. Responsibilities may vary due to the nature of the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
: Will follow all policies and procedures set forth by the Office of Recipient Rights and the Child Protection Act. Will supervise and assist residents in the care and cleaning of the living unit, and kitchen area at mealtime. Will provide consistent and applicable supervision of residents/clients in the living unit and in the community. Will observe and accurately document resident's/client's behaviors during shift. Will demonstrate ability to anticipate problematic situations and intervene prior to a crisis. Will demonstrate the ability to maintain age-appropriate interactions with residents/clients. Will demonstrate knowledge and application of residents/client's individual treatment plans, all house rules and procedures. Will demonstrate the ability to handle authority in a fair, firm nurturing way. Will demonstrate flexibility in handling a variety of jobs related to providing the best care for the residents/clients. Will demonstrate the ability to make sound judgments in handling emergencies, problems and other situation(s). Will attend all staff meetings and mandated trainings. Will complete all other duties, as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION
High School Diploma
EXPERIENCE
Working with youth or young adults (ages 16-20). Knowledgeable in mental health, substance abuse, child sexual behavior and child development.
QUALIFICATIONS
(1) Satisfactory DHHS Child Protective Services clearance. (2) State Police Record Check (3) State of Michigan Driver's License and safe driving record. (4) Negative TB Test.
Pay:
$15.00 - $16.00 per hour
