The Behavior Evaluator will apply established enrichment and behavioral modification techniques to increase the adoptability of companion animals in the shelter, ensuring that every animal that is placed through Michigan Humane is emotionally and physically sound.
Responsibilities:
Complete behavior evaluations to assess adoptability of animals in the shelter. Take accurate history and background on intake animals, ensuring records are accurate and complete. Evaluate shelter animals, paying special attention to issues such as fear, anxiety, aggression, separation anxiety, etc. Track, monitor, and update animal behavior information in computer system. Identify, document, and create plans for animals on identified behavior issues and concerns. Assign and complete behavior modification activities with animals. Create or assist with additional training with other staff, volunteers, adopters, and fosters as needed. Assist with relative duties at other shelters as needed.
