Job Description

Primary Youth Counselors work in conjunction with the Case Managers to implement the Individual Treatment Plans of 3 or 4 residents within the house. This includes writing in daily goals and tracking the progress of their assigned residents as they move throughout the program. Primary Youth Counselors co-facilitate groups on topics geared to address girls' needs and life stresses. This position works in collaboration with, and to support/educate other staff on the specific needs of the girls. Provide direct care and supervision of residents in their daily activities and in following the daily schedule as directed by the Shift Supervisor. Engage residents by facilitating or assisting with activities/chores and being actively involved with the residents during activities/chores. Demonstrate clear, healthy and safe boundaries with residents and all HGR staff. Monitor all residents' activity to ensure compliance with HGR policies and procedures regarding health and safety. Monitor residents health, illness and injury and for following proper procedures in caring for and reporting these to the nurse or supervisor. May be responsible for transporting residents to and from medical appointments. Be knowledgeable about residents' Individual Treatment Plan and goals, and for documenting all progress on goals and expectations in a timely and accurate manner. Ensure the house is maintained in a neat, clean and safe fashion. Staff will do their part in maintaining the home and ensuring that the residents do their part in keeping the home and grounds in a neat, clean and safe manner. Maintain positive relationship with parents, schools, employers and social service agencies. Primary Youth Counselors work shifts from 2:00PM to 11:00PM. Primary Youth Counselors are scheduled for 2- 3 shifts through the week and every other weekend. The weekend shift varies and is either 3:00PM-11:00PM or 8:00AM-4:00PM.
Pay & Benefits Pay:
The hourly pay range for the Primary Youth Counselor position is: $23.03. Wages and salaries are paid every two weeks.

This is in effect immediately after hire. All full time employees receive 8 hrs of holiday pay, plus time and a half pay for hours worked on a holiday.

Summary of Required Qualifications:
Bachelor of Arts or Science in psychology, sociology or a related human service field is preferred, or a combined 4 years of college coursework and experience. Current MN Driver's License and ability to transport residents in an HGR vehicle. Emotional and physical ability to manage an assaultive or physically aggressive resident using trauma-informed practice. Current CPR and First Aid Certification or ability to become certified.
