Job Description

Cast Member City Year seeks AmeriCorps Members to serve full-time in public schools, supporting students' academic and social-emotional growth. In this education-focused role, you'll provide tutoring, mentor students, assist in classrooms, and lead small-group interventions. You'll collaborate with school staff and a diverse team to create a positive learning environment. City Year offers comprehensive training, leadership development, and exposure to education and youth development careers in a mission-driven, inclusive culture dedicated to advancing educational equity. Provide in-class and small-group academic support in core subjects Build positive, mentoring relationships with students Support teachers with classroom activities and school-wide initiatives Track student progress and document intervention outcomes Collaborate with a diverse AmeriCorps team and school staff Participate in ongoing training, reflection, and leadership development Help plan and lead after-school programs and enrichment activities Uphold City Year's values of service, equity, and inclusion Tutoring and academic support Classroom management support Data entry and progress tracking Basic educational technology use Lesson and activity facilitation Mentoring and youth development Communication with teachers and staff Cultural competency and DEI practices Time management and organization Conflict resolution techniques Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Prior experience with youth or volunteer service preferred Background check and eligibility for AmeriCorps service Basic tutoring or mentoring training a plus
