Summer Youth Development Professionals (YDPs) facilitate fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities for groups of youth or teens from diverse backgrounds during our summer camp programming. Youth Development Professionals run programs, offer support, facilitate field trips, and ensure that every Club Member has an Optimal Club Experience that sets them up for lifelong success. Successful YDPs have a passion for serving others and contributing to the well-being of the community at large. They are curious, adaptable, and have the ability to connect with young people and offer supportive relationships. They are collaborative team players willing to ensure that Club Members are safe, recognized, and given the opportunity to learn new skills. The Perks!Monday-Friday work schedule:
no late nights or weekends required, great for student/work/life balance Professional development: organization-wide training and mentorship with industry leaders Impact and growth: make a difference in the community and the lives of the youth we serve while gaining skills and experience Enjoy three summer Club closure dates: Juneteenth, Independence Day, and Pioneer Day Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities): Plan and implement daily group activities with youth ages 5-12, or 13-18 Transport, supervise, and facilitate participation in summer field trips (for example: swimming) Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, and role modeling to support their development Provide active supervision and engagement at all times and maintain accurate attendance Abide by and carry out safety policies and proceduresNeeded Knowledge:
Ability to work in high-energy, loud, and active settings with large groups of diverse youth or teens Ability to prioritize responsibilities, ensure safety, and accomplish tasks in a detailed, timely manner Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with Club Members, peers, parents, community leaders, etc. Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable with both independent and collaborative processes Strong group management skills, willing to learn and implement trauma-informed practices Willingness to learn and exemplify social and emotional learning competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-makingRequirements:
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent Must be able to pass a criminal background check, MVR check, and drug screening. 18 years and over to work with youth, or 21 years and over to work with teens Must be able to attend mandatory summer training May 26-27Preferred Qualifications:
