Job Description
Our Next Generation (ONG) is a Qualified Residential Treatment Program (QRTP) serving youth ages 8 through 18 who require a structured, trauma-informed residential setting. Our program provides supervision, life skills development, behavioral support, crisis intervention, and individualized treatment planning in collaboration with youth, families, DCYF, educational providers, medical professionals, behavioral health providers, and community partners. Position Summary Direct Care Staff are responsible for providing direct supervision, support, guidance, mentoring, and daily care to youth residing in the program. Staff create a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while assisting youth in developing healthy coping skills, social skills, independent living skills, emotional regulation, and positive behavioral change. Direct Care Staff work as part of a multidisciplinary team and play a critical role in implementing treatment goals, behavior support plans, safety plans, supervision plans, and other individualized service interventions developed for youth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Direct Care Staff will maintain continuous awareness of youth location, activities, behaviors, and safety needs while ensuring youth are appropriately supervised according to program requirements, individual supervision plans, and Washington Administrative Code requirements. Staff will establish professional, supportive, and therapeutic relationships with youth while modeling appropriate behavior, communication, problem-solving skills, conflict resolution skills, and emotional regulation. Staff will assist youth with daily living activities including personal hygiene, meal preparation, housekeeping responsibilities, laundry, organization of personal belongings, budgeting skills, community integration, and development of independent living skills. Staff will implement individualized treatment goals, behavior support plans, safety plans, and crisis intervention strategies as directed by the treatment team and program leadership. Staff will provide transportation for youth to school, medical appointments, counseling appointments, recreational activities, court hearings, family visits, and community-based activities as assigned. Staff will document all significant interactions, interventions, observations, incidents, behavioral concerns, progress toward goals, and youth activities in accordance with agency documentation standards and required timelines. Staff will participate in shift exchanges, team meetings, training activities, emergency drills, and program activities to ensure continuity of care and effective communication among team members. Staff will immediately report incidents, safety concerns, suspected abuse or neglect, missing-from-care situations, medical emergencies, behavioral crises, and any event affecting youth safety or well-being in accordance with agency policy and mandatory reporting requirements. Staff will assist with maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming living environment and will complete assigned housekeeping, safety, and facility responsibilities during each shift. Required Qualifications Applicants must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, and be insurable under the agency's automobile insurance policy. Applicants must successfully complete all required background checks, fingerprinting, and screening requirements. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work effectively with youth who have experienced trauma, behavioral challenges, mental health concerns, family disruption, or involvement with child welfare systems. Applicants must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, sound judgment, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to remain calm during crisis situations. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in residential treatment, foster care, behavioral health, juvenile justice, education, child welfare, social services, or related human service fields is preferred. Experience working with youth who have experienced trauma is strongly preferred. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, behavior management, de-escalation techniques, and youth development principles is preferred. Training Requirements All staff must successfully complete required pre-service training, ongoing annual training, CPR/First Aid certification requirements, bloodborne pathogens training, mandatory reporting training, and agency-approved behavior management training, including Right Response. Physical Requirements Staff must be able to actively supervise youth, participate in recreational activities, transport youth, respond to emergencies, and perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
