The primary purpose of the department is teaching, research and patient care in those issues involving the needs of children, with particular emphasis on the children of eastern North Carolina.MT. Children's Advocacy Center of the Department of Pediatrics is in accord with this primary purpose. This purpose will be achieved by providing 1) comprehensive evaluation and specialized treatment of children who have experienced abuse and trauma 2) an educational resource for students and professionals and the community in eastern North Carolina regarding child abuse, neglect, and trauma.MT. serves abused and neglected children, ages birth to 18, and their non-offending family members by providing child medical evaluations; forensic interviews; individual, group, and family therapy; community development, outreach education for individuals and groups, and child abuse prevention programming. The agency also collaborates with ECU Health by providing in-house child abuse consults. Job Duties The Clinical Therapist will provide comprehensive treatment services to children who have experienced abuse and trauma. These services will include extensive psycho-social assessments, testing, development of comprehensive treatment plans, coordination with involved agencies, and provision of intensive trauma treatment. Treatment provided will include long and short-term individual, family and play therapy, and psychoeducational sessions. The Clinical Therapist will serve as a member of the center's multidisciplinary team and participate in weekly staffing meetings to provide feedback and treatment recommendations for children seen for medical evaluation. The Clinical Therapist will provide consultation as needed to the other staff members on complex cases in regard to mental health assessment and treatment. The Clinical Therapist will provide training on being trauma informed to Multidisciplinary Partners on a quarterly basis. The Clinical Therapist will engage in family advocacy through court testimony and attendance to outside agency reviews is provided on an as needed basis. Temp Hire Therapist for Mt.Olive CAC:

Therapist in Winterville location Attend Monthly MDT meetings in Wayne County as an observer/learner (3rd Monday's 10-11:30 am), be available for Duplin County MDT either virtually or in person (2nd Monday 12:30pm-2:30pm) and others upon request. Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in a Human Services discipline with coursework related to the area of assignment. Some positions may require certification to practice as a certified or licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification Board. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) will also be considered. All licenses must be current with their respective Board and unrestricted. Candidates who are not yet licensed will also be considered if they are currently at the internship level of a Master's program, or have completed a Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work and are actively pursuing licensure. Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education Preference will be given to candidate with 4+ years of therapeutic counseling experience in mental health service field. Training and experience with crisis intervention, child trauma, and family violence is desired. Specific experience with assessment and treatment for trauma is preferred. License or Certification Required by the Department Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) will also be considered.
