Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Soil Sampler to join our team as a full-time seasonal employee. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting soil samples from various agricultural and research sites to support scientific studies, research & development projects, and environmental assessments. Your work will directly contribute to advancing knowledge in agriculture, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, and related fields. This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in hands-on fieldwork, utilize cutting-edge data collection techniques, and support innovative research initiatives in a dynamic environment. Duties Collect soil samples accurately from designated locations following established protocols and experimental designs Record detailed metadata for each sample, including location, depth, environmental conditions, and sample identifiers Prepare samples for laboratory analysis by properly labeling, storing, and transporting them to ensure integrity Assist with laboratory processing and analysis of soil samples using techniques related to microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetics Support research projects by gathering data on soil properties relevant to farming practices, crop health, or environmental impact assessments Utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to map sampling sites and analyze spatial data related to soil variability Contribute to ongoing research & development efforts by maintaining detailed records and assisting with experimental design adjustments as needed Skills Strong background in scientific research methods with experience in data collection and analysis Proficiency in programming languages such as R and Python for data analysis and visualization Familiarity with machine learning techniques applicable to environmental or agricultural datasets Laboratory experience in microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology or related fields is highly desirable Knowledge of farming practices, agriculture systems, horticulture, or greenhouse operations enhances fieldwork effectiveness Experience with GIS software and spatial analysis tools for mapping sampling sites and analyzing soil data Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and contribute insights for research purposes Hands-on experience with experimental design in scientific studies involving soil or plant sciences Strong organizational skills for meticulous record-keeping and sample management Join us in this vital role where your expertise will help shape sustainable farming practices, innovative research solutions, and environmental stewardship.
