SolidWorks Designer / Drafter - Metal Fabrication (Full-Time, On-Site)

Iron Mountain Iron Mountain Studios is a growing metal fabrication and product design company producing custom products and expanding into new product lines. We are looking for a SolidWorks Designer/Drafter to join our team and play a key role in both product development and production efficiency. This is an on-site, hands-on role working directly with our fabrication team. What You'll Do Design and develop metal products using SolidWorks Create detailed shop drawings, assemblies, and BOMs Work on both new product design and existing product optimization Optimize designs for: Tube laser cutting Sheet metal fabrication Welding and assembly Ensure designs are practical, efficient, and manufacturable Collaborate directly with fabricators to refine and improve designs Identify opportunities to simplify parts, reduce cost, and improve production speed This Is Not a Desk-Only CAD Role This position works closely with our shop team and requires real-world involvement in the fabrication process.
You should be comfortable:
Spending time on the shop floor Communicating directly with welders and fabricators Seeing your designs through from concept to production Adjusting designs based on real-world feedback If you are looking for a purely office-based CAD role, this position will not be a good fit. What We're Looking For Mid to senior-level SolidWorks expert with experience in: Weldments Sheet metal design Ability to handle both concept design and production detailing Strong understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) Able to work with speed and attention to detail Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing environment Willing to take ownership of designs from start to finish Preferred (Not Required) Experience working in or closely with a fabrication shop Familiarity with tube laser cutting or CNC processes Experience improving designs for production efficiency Why This Role Matters This is not just a drafting role—you will directly impact how products are designed, built, and improved.
