Job Description

Northfield Mount Hermon School, an independent co-educational boarding school in western Massachusetts, seeks a dynamic individual to teach introductory through advanced Spanish. NMH's world languages program strives to engage students in using language not only for self-expression and communication, but also for providing insight into the social patterns, value systems, traditions, and attitudes of Spanish-speaking people throughout the world. This position begins in the fall semester of the 2026-2027 academic year. In addition to native or near-native fluent Spanish, the successful applicant will have at least a bachelor's degree in Spanish or related field, a background sufficient to teach through advanced Spanish, and experience teaching Spanish as a second language (preferably at the secondary level). Successful candidates should possess knowledge of language pedagogy and student-centered approach as well as experience in project-based learning. Additional qualifications include strong interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues. Candidates must be familiar with boarding school life and have an interest in making a positive impact on the lives of adolescents. They will have demonstrated experience in equity and inclusion work that promotes a diverse community environment and a clear understanding of anti-bias education. Responsibilities of the position include a combination of classroom teaching, student advising, resident dormitory supervision, and coaching or equivalents.
