Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting K-5 students as a Special Education Teacher for the 26/27 school year. This full-time contract opportunity in the Topsham, ME area is designed for passionate educators ready to make a lasting impact in a dynamic school environment. You'll provide direct instruction and develop meaningful supports for students with diverse academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Maine 282 (Special Education Teacher) certification required Current CHRC certification is mandatory Willingness to complete Safety Care training Previous experience creating and implementing positive behavioral support plans Understanding or experience with MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) highly valued Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills Commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and student-centered classroom
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education programs (IEPs) for K-5 students Utilize evidence-based strategies to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs Design and apply positive behavioral support plans to encourage student growth and success Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and families to drive positive outcomes Collect and analyze data to inform instruction and support MTSS frameworks Maintain accurate records in line with district and state requirements Foster an environment of respect, encouragement, and high expectations for all learners You will have the chance to build positive relationships, use your expertise to shape young lives, and grow professionally in a supportive school setting.
