Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a vibrant school environment near Bel Air, MD. This contract opportunity offers a chance to create a meaningful impact every day, working closely with learners across a range of abilities and backgrounds. This position provides a 35-hour work week, with consistent daily start and end times for work/life balance. You'll work directly with a dedicated caseload of students from various age groups, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families to develop effective, individualized education plans and foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere.
Qualifications & Experience Desired:
Bachelor's or master's degree in Special Education, or a related field Valid Special Education Teacher certification (state-required) Experience with IEP development, progress monitoring, and instructional differentiation Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and age ranges of students with disabilities Excellent communication and organization skills Flexibility and creativity in adapting materials for individualized student needs Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive classroom climate
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement specialized instructional programs for assigned caseload Conduct assessments and track student progress towards IEP goals Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, families, and support staff Maintain accurate and timely records for compliance Attend and actively participate in IEP meetings and professional development Engage directly with students onsite to maximize educational growth You'll stand out if you have specialized training in behavioral interventions, experience with assistive technology, or a passion for innovative teaching approaches.
