Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Special Education Teachers are needed in the Chicago area to support students across grades K-12. This contract position offers the chance to make a meaningful impact, working with learners who have a variety of needs, including learning, emotional, and autistic support. Full-time hours are available, Monday through Friday, with assignments beginning as soon as possible and continuing through the end of the school year.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement (K-22) Minimum of one year prior experience developing and writing IEP goals Background working with students in special education settings, particularly across K-12 age groups Understanding of learning, emotional, and autistic spectrum disabilities Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction and support tailored to students with diverse needs in inclusive or self-contained settings Assess and monitor student progress, adapting instructional methods as necessary Develop, implement, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Work closely with general education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure student success Maintain compliance with state and federal special education regulations and documentation Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development This full-time opportunity offers between 35-40 hours per week. Compensation for this position ranges from $37 to $55 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
