Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role impacting young learners as a Self-Contained Elementary Special Education Teacher. In this full-time, contract opportunity, you'll support students in grades K-3, cultivating growth in an inclusive, nurturing environment. Bring your expertise and commitment to fostering academic, social, and emotional achievement for students with diverse learning needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
Valid Multi-Categorical Special Education certification in South Carolina (required) Experience working with early elementary students, ideally within a self-contained classroom setting Strong understanding of differentiated instruction, IEP development, and data-driven teaching Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working alongside families, general education staff, and support personnel Passion for innovative, student-centered teaching practices and creating a positive learning climate
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and small group instruction aligned with students' IEPs and curriculum standards Adapt and modify lessons, activities, and assessments to meet diverse learning styles and abilities Implement positive behavioral supports and foster a classroom culture that encourages respect and inclusion Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to monitor progress, participate in IEP meetings, and update required documentation Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to ensure consistent support and celebrate student progress
