Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a Special Education Teacher supporting students for the 2026-27 school year. This role is ideal for an educator with a passion for empowering learners in a collaborative, resource-rich environment. The assignment spans the full academic year and follows the standard school calendar.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, required Valid South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) teaching license in a designated special education category (e.g., Learning Disabilities, Multi-categorical, Emotional Disabilities) Demonstrated experience providing instruction and individualized supports to students with diverse learning needs Strong understanding of IEP processes, compliance, and evidence-based instructional strategies Excellent communication skills to foster meaningful connections with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Adaptability to accommodate variable caseloads and instructional demands
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to students with identified special needs in accordance with their IEPs Monitor student progress and maintain comprehensive records to ensure adherence to educational plans Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to optimize student outcomes Participate actively in IEP meetings and contribute to development, review, and modification of individualized plans Utilize formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and measure growth Maintain an inclusive, supportive classroom environment that encourages positive behavior and academic achievement Remain current with special education best practices, state guidelines, and compliance standards This position offers a consistent weekly schedule of 37.5 hours and an engaging, supportive school community.
