Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting high school students as a full-time Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This contract position offers the opportunity to make a lasting impact on students in grades 9-12, focusing on individualized growth and inclusive education.
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred) Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement Solid understanding of
IDEA, FAPE, IEP
development, and evidence-based behavioral strategies Proven experience working with students with a range of disabilities, including learning, emotional, and developmental challenges Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with staff and families Familiarity with assistive technology and inclusive classroom practices (preferred)
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging instruction and behavioral support tailored for high school students with diverse needs Modify curriculum to ensure access to general education content and align with IEP goals Develop, implement, and consistently monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Promote participation in the least restrictive environment, supporting inclusion wherever possible Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers Maintain proactive communication with families about student progress, challenges, and successes Cultivate an environment that values every student's strengths and fosters a sense of belonging If you are passionate about improving educational outcomes and empowering adolescents with unique learning needs, this position provides a platform to apply your expertise and creativity.
