Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a fulfilling role supporting students as a Special Education Case Coordinator for the 2026-27 academic year. Three contract openings are available, each offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in either a high school, middle school, or elementary setting. These positions focus on collaborating directly with in-person special educators and ensuring students' individualized learning needs are met.
What We're Looking For:
Current credentials meeting all Vermont state special education requirements Proven experience working as a Special Education Teacher or Coordinator Comfortable working in-person (remote or VOCO options are not available) Strong commitment to collaboration and individualized education planning Ability to manage caseloads specific to high school, middle school, or elementary levels Effective written and verbal communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and oversee individualized education programs (IEPs) Partner with special educators in a dyad model (for high school position) Support students, staff, and families through the special education process Maintain accurate and timely documentation aligned with state and federal guidelines Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and team collaborations Advocate for appropriate instructional supports and services for each student
Additional Details:
Contract runs from August 28, 2026, to June 18, 2027 Full-time positions (37.5 hours per week) All roles are based on-site This is a meaningful opportunity to impact student outcomes and grow professionally in a supportive school environment.
