Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting opportunities are available for multiple dedicated professionals to support high school students as Special Education Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year. These contract positions begin August 3, 2026, and run through May 25, 2027. Preferred Background and Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification (state requirements apply) Prior experience teaching or supporting high school students with exceptional needs Strong foundation in crafting and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Familiarity with a range of instructional and behavioral management strategies Ability to collaborate professionally with families, support staff, and administration Excellent communication and organizational skills Flexibility to attend IEP meetings before or after standard school hours
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized and group instruction to high school students following IEPs Develop and adapt lessons to address students' unique learning styles and needs Assess academic and behavioral progress; maintain thorough, accurate records Actively participate in IEP meetings, collaborating closely with families and multidisciplinary teams Support students in developing academic, social, and life skills to achieve their fullest potential Foster a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment that encourages growth and respect This position features a four-day work week, from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, providing a balanced schedule throughout the academic year. Caseloads are determined as student pre-registration is finalized, ensuring careful, equitable assignment.
