Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Exciting opportunities are now available for Special Education Teachers for the 2026-2027 school year! We are seeking experienced and passionate educators ready to inspire and support students in a variety of specialized settings near Cicero, IL.
Openings include:
Elementary RISE (Autism Self-Contained Program), Middle School RISE (Autism Self-Contained Program), Elementary AIM (Low Incidence Life Skills), and SEL (Social Emotional Learning) roles at both elementary and middle school levels. These contract positions offer the chance to make a significant impact on students' lives.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required Prior experience working with students with autism, low-incidence disabilities, or social-emotional/behavioral needs preferred Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs Strong background in differentiated instruction and evidence-based classroom management Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff Compassion, patience, and commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and individualized support in self-contained or specialized classroom settings Develop, adapt, and implement IEP goals targeting academics, behavior, and life skills Utilize data-driven interventions and ongoing progress monitoring Collaborate with related service providers and general education teams Engage positively with families and caregivers to support student progress Create safe, nurturing, and structured environments that promote student growth and independence Why consider this opportunity?
