Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners with diverse needs in an enriching elementary school environment. This full-time opportunity runs from late August through early June, offering a chance to make a meaningful impact throughout the academic year. The position centers on a classroom dedicated to K-2 students with developmental cognitive disabilities (DCD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD), combining academic, behavioral, and functional supports in a highly collaborative, well-resourced setting. You'll partner with a dedicated paraprofessional team, implement individualized education interventions, and play a crucial role in fostering growth and success for approximately six students. Working closely with families and related service personnel, you'll help shape consistent, positive experiences tailored to each child.
Key Qualifications:
Active Minnesota Special Education Teaching License Preferred licensure in ASD, DCD, ABS, or cross-categorical SPED Proven track record supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities Skilled in designing and delivering IEPs, progress monitoring, and personalized interventions Strong background in behavioral support and structured classroom management Collaborative spirit for teamwork with service providers and families
Valued Experience:
Prior work in a center-based autism classroom Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) Knowledge of sensory regulation and functional skills instruction
