Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role shaping students' futures as a Special Education Teacher working in a supportive school environment in Vermont. This contract opportunity offers the chance to work in-person with a dynamic team dedicated to making a positive impact on learners with diverse needs. The position runs from late August 2026 to mid-June 2027, providing consistent weekly hours and an engaging academic year schedule.
Desired Qualifications:
Current, valid teaching certification meeting all Vermont state requirements for special education Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher preferred Ability to develop, implement, and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff Comfortable working exclusively in-person Flexibility to manage caseloads and adapt to varying classroom settings based on internal assignments
Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized instructional support to students with exceptionalities, ensuring educational goals are achieved Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers to deliver coordinated support Collect and analyze student data to measure progress and inform instructional decisions Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with state and school requirements Engage families in regular communication about student progress and program updates
