Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Put your specialized skills to work supporting the academic and developmental success of students in a dynamic and inclusive educational environment. This contract opportunity is tailored for a dedicated Special Education Teacher, focusing on cross-categorical service for middle and high school students. The position calls for collaboration and adaptability—serving learners with varied mild-to-moderate disabilities, such as learning disabilities, emotional/behavioral disorders, and mild intellectual disabilities, all within one classroom community. You will play a central role in shaping a supportive environment where students are empowered, regardless of their diagnosis, and have the opportunity to thrive alongside their peers. This assignment begins August 18, 2026, and extends through June 10, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Wisconsin Cross-Categorical Special Education certification (License #2801) is required. Demonstrated experience supporting students with autism. Strong classroom management and differentiation skills. Proven ability to develop and implement IEPs. Effective communication with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams. Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom culture.
Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted instruction using evidence-based practices for a diverse student population. Adapt curriculum and modify lessons to accommodate individual student needs. Maintain accurate records, including progress monitoring and IEP documentation. Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure holistic support for every student.
