Job Description
Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make an impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting elementary students for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract opportunity spans from August through May, offering 37.5 hours weekly across various settings—Inclusion, Self-Contained, and Behavior Unit classrooms. With multiple positions open, you'll work onsite, collaborating with educators and staff to create an inclusive, supportive environment.
Qualifications:
Valid Special Education (SPED) licensure for Alabama. Licensure can be verified online. Experience or interest in working with elementary students of varied needs. Flexibility to work in different classroom models: Inclusion, Self-Contained, and Behavior Unit. Strong communication and organizational skills to document progress and collaborate with team members. Dedication to fostering a welcoming, positive learning environment for students with diverse abilities.Responsibilities:
Provide specialized instruction tailored to each student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Adapt curriculum materials and teaching strategies to accommodate varying learning styles and challenges. Collaborate with teachers, aides, administrators, and families to support academic and behavioral growth. Monitor student progress, collect data, and participate in IEP meetings as needed. Maintain detailed, accurate records in compliance with district and state requirements. Implement classroom management techniques to ensure a safe, supportive atmosphere.
