The Special Education Coordinator is a vital and supportive member of the PCSD team, working collaboratively with educators, support staff, and administration to achieve the shared goal of ensuring all students receive the education they need to succeed both today and tomorrow. This role is performed within a school environment, overseen by the school principal, where teamwork and dedication to student success are paramount. All staff are expected to fully adhere to the ethical standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, continuously demonstrating a strong understanding of the tasks and responsibilities their roles require. Provides leadership and coordination for planning, implementation, and assessment of the Special Education Department; Ensures compliance with all State and Federal Laws, State Department of Education Rules and Regulations, and Paulding County Board of Education Policies where applicable.Working Conditions:

Occasionally exposed to loud noise levels. Occasionally exposed to bodily fluids and communicable diseases.Qualifications:
Must hold a Master's Degree or higher Must hold a valid GA Teaching Certificate in one or more areas of Special Education Must hold or be eligible for Georgia Educational Leadership (Tier 1) Minimum of three (3) years successful teaching experience with Special Education students (5) years preferred. School leadership experience preferred. Must have experience providing training, support, and professional development to other educators. The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.Essential Functions:
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance Coordinates all instructional aspects of curriculum/instruction for students with disabilities at the school level according to Federal, State, and local Board regulations and established policies Participates in the supervision of curriculum and instruction for students with disabilities to ensure Federal, State, and local Board of Education standards are being met Coordinates with the local school and central administrative teams to ensure that local school personnel maintain accurate student records to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Board of Education policies Promotes communication and professional growth through local school visits, in-service meetings, and professional learning opportunities Assists in organizing and conducting training and professional learning for teachers, staff, and instructional support teachers, and administrators as determined by need Participates with administrative teams to develop and implement the strategic plan including identifying appropriate initiatives, setting benchmarks, and data collection Works with EAC's, Special Education Lead Teachers, SDI Coaches and Administrators to determine needs of students with disabilities to implement the goals/objectives of students' IEPs Assists in conducting program evaluation in schools and in making recommendations for program improvement Monitor district compliance and provide general supervision of the Identification and Evaluation process for Special Education and related services. Assists in the coordination of mediations, early resolution sessions, and hearings Communicates information to local school personnel in a timely, professional, and productive manner Supports/models effective communication with schools, other departments, and agencies to provide for effective services for students with disabilities Represents the Department on committees as assigned by the Special Education Director Completes Federal, State, Local reports assigned by the Special Education Director in an accurate and timely manner Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designeeKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with a diverse range of individuals, including teachers, parents, and students. Ability to address the unique needs of students and adapt lessons and materials as necessary Knowledge of federal and state laws related to special education, Section 504, the MTSS process, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and the Georgia Implementation Manual Knowledge of the policies and regulations of the Paulding County Board of Education, as well as State and Federal rules and regulations related to Special Education Ability to supervise and work effectively with departmental personnel Good decision-making and problem-solving skills Ability to develop implementation, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives Working knowledge of standards-based instruction and assessment Excellent communication skills both written and verbal Excellent organizational and leadership skill Applicants will be selected for interview.
